The vinyl is said to have been pressed at RTI, but we’re still trying to confirm that directly, and we’ll include an update here accordingly if warranted. As explained in the waveform analyse, there is a strong probability that this vinyl is cut from a master compressed in dynamics, so the vinyl has transformed this signal according to its technical characteristics, giving a more pleasant signal to listen to, that’s the magic of vinyl, because it has generated a deformation (therefore distortion) which is more pleasant to the ear than the digital version!

Looking at the video that accompanied Live in Berlin, I recognized this once-innocent, quirky little synth-pop band that my college roommates played a whole bunch back in the day had gone on to become massive arena rockers, now filling ginormous arenas and stadiums across the globe with a broad swath of fans who know every word, and every beat, of their songs. The band enjoyed great success during the 1980s and 1990s, with singles such as ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’, ‘People Are People’, ‘Personal Jesus’ and ‘Enjoy the Silence’.Feel free to chime in about your own favorites in the Comments section below following the review text, if you wish.

The ninth collection in the series, Ultra | The 12" Singles was released on 27 September 2021 with the tenth volume, Exciter | The 12" Singles, arriving on 10 June 2022. Delta Machine | The 12" Singles is the chronological 13th volume in SME's Depeche Mode 12" Singles Series with plans to release a Spirit box set in a similar deluxe audio-grade collector's edition. I realized this some years ago when I was reviewing their fine November 2014 release, Live in Berlin. Like the band’s last album that I seriously got into, March 2013’s Delta Machine, Memento Mori is actually a very good record. In fact, the best compliment I can wrap this review up with is this thought — how great is it that a band like Depeche Mode can still create compelling new music after all these years that doesn’t feel tired, and in turn rekindles and/or sparks interest in their past works? The deluxe CD edition does not offer any bonus tracks and contains the same 12-track album as the other formats.

However, despite this problem, the magic of vinyl works by offering a more pleasant listening experience than the digital limited in dynamic release, but which raises the question of the fidelity of the original mix before a destructive mastering. The album’s 12 tracks chart a vast expanse of moods and textures, from its ominous opening to its closing resolve—running the gamut from paranoia and obsession to catharsis and joy, and hitting myriad points between. This is confirmed by the DR value, which is DR4 for the average value, with songs between DR3 and DR5, which is almost a record in terms of limiting dynamics, but a bad record!

The first single is ‘Ghosts Again’, which you can preview above and the album itself will be available on CD, deluxe CD and black and coloured vinyl variants. On the Memento Mori tour, Hublot and Depeche Mode are proud to announce they'll be supporting and raising funds for The Conservation Collective, a UK-based environmental charity. Since the first partnership in 2010, Hublot and Depeche Mode have collaborated a number of times to support causes that both care deeply about. To be seen as 'strange' in a creative field is no bad thing as it probably means 'different' which I find is a very positive description of one's struggle to be just that.Produziert von James Ford mit Unterstützung von Marta Salogni reifte „Memento Mori“ während der Frühphase der weltweiten Covid-Pandemie heran; eine Periode, die auch einen thematischen Einfluss auf die Songs hatte. Some of my favorite tracks on Memento Mori so far include Side 2’s “Caroline’s Monkey,” which oddly reminds me a bit of Robert Fripp and David Sylvian’s “God’s Monkey” from their August 1993 Virgin release, The First Day. Two 180 Gram BLACK vinyl discs in a tri-fold jacket with foil print on cover, printed inner sleeves and 12”x 24” poster.
