Who can belong to the Ascent?
The Ascent is a movement for lay men and women. It is for all those we describe as senior citizens, older men and women, the retired and elderly or those who have reached a ‘certain age.’ An age when one realises that one is at a turning point in life. An Ascent group offers these men and women an opportunity to meet each other through regular group meetings.
The local Ascent Group is an important instrument in the way that Ascent helps its members grow in faith, prayer and love. For practical reasons, these groups are usually made up of people from one parish or one locality. The wider the mix of people, middle aged, old, this or that cultural or social background, the better it is for the Group. All are welcome
Group members are those who are active and free to enjoy the regular parish meetings.
Associate members those men and women who are unable to join a specific Group for one reason or another.
On the following pages you will find information on the Groups throughout the UK, what they have been up to and illustrating the activities, interests, happiness and sense of purpose that the movement gives to each member.
