Based on your heart rate, time asleep, restlessness and breathing, this personalised score helps you better understand your sleep quality each night. Missed calls notification, calendar notification, SMS notification, Always-on display, voice control, changeable band, social apps notification, breathing training function, store & play music, accelerometer, heart rate Overall, it works pretty well, although I’m not sure it’s a game changer, as the gap between asking a question and getting a very basic answer is long enough that most people would probably dig out their phones by preference anyway. But it’s there, and as extra features go, it’s a nice freebie I suppose.

It’s comfortable, too, with straps that can be replaced should you want to mix things up a bit. I’ve been wearing the salmon pink and rose gold number Fitbit sent us, which has raised a few eyebrows from friends and family as it’s somewhat out of step with my usual colour palette, but I could have swapped things out easily enough. Again, this isn’t necessarily Fitbit’s fault but it does underline the perils of relying on phone data rather than bundling a dedicated GPS chip. If you can’t trust your phone’s GPS and you’re a serious runner, then the Fitbit Versa 2 simply isn’t for you. Fitbit Versa 2 review: Fitbit Premium It also makes sense to compare the Versa 2 with the Fitbit Versa Lite. As the name indicates, the Fitbit Versa Lite is similar in design and looks, but with fewer features and a smaller price tag. If you aren't too bothered about maxing out on apps and workout routines, the Lite is a good option, but it may not have enough features for serious runners, cyclists, or gym bunnies. Access your favourite apps for fitness, sports, news, travel, transport and more with a simple tap. There are limitations to this. You can’t ask it to play music on Spotify, for example, even though the app is there on the watch. But you can get it to set timers and control smart home stuff – I managed to turn on and off some lights from the wrist. Silly, but it worked. Battery life varies with use and other factors. The SpO2 feature and always-on display mode require more frequent charging. Fitbit boasts that the Versa 2 has over 4 days of battery life, but naturally that depends on usage and other external factors. A full charge from 0% to 100% should take around 2 hours. Fitbit Versa Lite – Simple, easy to use, and with key fitness and smart features, the Fitbit Versa Lite Edition is cheaper and more accessible version of the Versa 2. The low price is great, but it also means that you won't have access to some features of the Versa 2 such as Spotify or Fitbit Pay, so perhaps this is a good choice if price is your main concern. Ultimately, the Fitbit Versa 2 watch aims to improve the quality of life of its users by measuring data related to their health. The sleep monitoring function takes into account wrist movements and heart rate to identify the phases and quality of rest. It also stands out from the competition by allowing users to record the details of their menstrual cycle, comparing them with other data (sleep, activity) and providing dynamic predictions. Verdict

A couple of cases in point. At Sutton Coldfield parkrun, where I found myself this weekend, the Versa 2 measured the course as 5.15km. Weirdly it said 5.25km on the watch, but revised things to 5.15km when it synced to Fitbit’s app. Both were wrong, anyway, and obviously this will cause problems if you use mid-run stats to adjust your pace. The star of the show is undoubtedly the guided workouts, which provide a personal trainer showing you how to do various exercises and guiding you through them. There are a dizzying number of these, each one showing how long it’ll take and how many calories you can expect to burn. The gym and home-based ones offer video (which can be cast to a big screen) while running and walking ones provide music and words to keep you motivated and guide you through the experience. It really is pretty impressive. As a second test, I took it out running on a regular route around my neighbourhood that Mapometre measures as exactly 5km. Fitbit said I did 4.74km this time, giving me an average pace that was slower than I actually achieved. The reason for this is pretty clear when you dig into the mapping data: Designed with a super-light aluminium case, Versa 2 is comfortable enough to wear all day and night. The Fitbit Versa UK range currently contains two main models, so let's look at those first before going through the main features:

Daily Monitoring

Learn more about your runs and hikes by connecting to your phone's GPS to see pace and distance on display, plus get a map of your route in the Fitbit app. Daily Readiness requires a Fitbit Premium membership. Premium content recommendations are not available in all locales and may be in English only. With its soft angles and slim screen, this smartwatch features a minimalist design and beautiful finishes. With only 23 grams on the scale, it is light enough to be worn continuously and forgotten. The Fitbit Versa 2 also features an elegant silhouette, enhanced by interchangeable straps in different materials and colours. The American manufacturer has created a watch that will suit all wearers, regardless of taste. Daily Monitoring Automatically record select exercises like swimming, running, aerobic workouts and more & see your stats in the Fitbit app. See call, text or calendar notifications on screen and get push notifications from your favourite apps. And you can see this in the comparison between the Versa 2 and the Apple Watch 5 (the most realistic comparison as of early 2020). If you own an Apple iPhone, you can probably do a lot more with the Watch 5, and Apple have paid a bit more attention to aesthetics. If you're shopping for a watch to show off at work, rather than at the gym, the Watch 5 will probably be preferable. But the sleep analysis tools, variety of fitness programs, and the relatively low Fitbit Versa 2 price tag makes it a far better option for most fitness fanatics.
