I just watched the theatrical cut all the way through and caught glimpses of the others while I listened to their commentaries. Anywho, Zack Snyder’s Dawn of the Dead rocks, and was the Friday the 13th to 28 Days Later’s Halloween in terms of resurrecting the zombie genre. While I have my own misgivings about the remake of Dawn of the Dead, it at least tried to do something a little different and not be an exact copy of the original. Grain is expertly managed and feels natural, so even the wide shots of blue/grey sky that highlight Dawn of the Dead's grain structure – more so than its interiors – aren't
a distraction. Whether you’re in it for its social commentary, its zombie carnage, or its characters, Dawn of the Dead is a film that’s easy to enjoy and stands up better than many of its counterparts.

NEW Zombies and Bikers, with John Amplas, Roy Frumkes, Tom Savini, Christine Forrest, Tom Dubensky, Tony Buba, Taso Stavrakis and a whole host of zombies and bikers! The WGC and HDR lend themselves to vivid colours and pop from the screen, the blood had never looked so intense.

There is a new level of detail to the image, crisp edges and defined features, from close up skin texture to overhead views of landscapes.

Characters, dynamics, and outcomes have been completely altered and gone altogether is the consumerism angle of the original. The audio commentary with director Zack Snyder and producer Eric Newman was created for Universal’s original DVD release in 2004. As previously mentioned, the notion of fast-moving zombies has been more or less erased from the zombie lexicon, but there are certain visuals and sequences that hold up. When they manage to break in though and find a secluded loft space the zombies can’t get to, the four of them decide to stay in the mall for a while.Video Disclaimer: Screen captures used in the review are from the standard Blu-ray, not from the 4K UHD Blu-ray disc. A mostly refined grain structure and a high bitrate are on display, offering crisper images with a new level of clarity not found on previous releases. The management works very hard to make sure the community is running the best software, best designs, and all the other bells and whistles. Grain is light-moderate to moderate, varying a bit from shot to shot, but it’s always natural-looking.
