An afterword from Waller-Bridge that explores the process of making and writing the series will follow each season’s scripts. It has all the wit, heart and fourth-walling of the series and it really felt as if you were a fly on the wall, watching the series be filmed, rather than reading the book on your couch covered in Belvita crumbs (just me? I loved the wit and dark humour of the two series’ so I couldn’t wait to dive into this book, seeing the words I think I could probably quote if you asked, and see it come to life before my eyes. i wish i could see PWB perform this because it is different enough from the show and also darker jealous of those who've seen it. It's a fun exercise to overlap in your mind the sound, the rhythm of the edit and the performances as you read these scripts, highly controlled though they are .

I'd read just the script previously, but wanted to see if this special edition's features, and a re-read, made it rise in my estimation any (I gave it 3 stars initially). Occasionally mumblings can be deciphered, script in hand, and ad-libs that aren't in the script identified. It's really refreshing to read something that addresses parts and experiences of life that are so cotidian yet slightly taboo and unspoken of- Brilliant.

The play ended too abruptly, for me, but again, you can simply see the phenomenal show to see what else happens in Fleabag’s life. This gives amazing insight into ‘Fleabag’ the character, Phoebe’s creative process, and her philosophy in writing for an audience, and the feelings and reactions she seeks. We’re meant to think that it is a symbol of power, a symbol of fertility, some people are exploited for it and it pays your fucking bills.

I do not understand my reaction but it is confusing and caused the kind of bizarre overwhelming vulnerability that I could not stop myself from having my true reaction to my dearest friend telling me over the phone to “engage in some self care.
