For anyone that has read this authors books before, you know that you fall into the storyline hook line and sinker, and that you just keep reading. However, as time moves on and Heath is still there in Cleo’s life, she does fall for him, and at first they are deliriously happy. Without giving anything away, the makers of the film ended up taking the easy way out rather than resolving this love triangle in a satisfactory manner. I use my writing to try to explore what I’m feeling, I try to get into the heads of other people so I can see things from their point of view. The contrast between then and now could not be starker with events of 25 years ago feeling like a romcom with the writing being light and breezy.

My Other Husband was a long time coming, since the publication of her book The Flavours of Love I’ve been thinking a story with food and murder from another angel would be brilliant.We know that Cleo is choosing to implode her own life, which seems to be going well, and we find out why through chapters dispersed throughout the current timeline that provide us the background that leads to her current situation. Usually, this would be a positive for me as I prefer to be shocked than for a story to go down the obvious route, but I did feel slightly let down when a new twist came into play. A unusual and thrilling tale of long kept secrets and dangerous obsession, combined with a cast of very strong characters. However, as she drafts her final ever episode her life turns upside down and people she knows start getting hurt and it soon becomes clear that someone is trying to frame her for murder and she thinks she knows why. I loved the alternating timelines that helped build a picture of the complex relationships between the characters over the years but out of all of them I think I loved Lola the most with her witty attitude and sass.

The plot was unique and unpredictable, and the twist at the end which I completely did not see coming. Forming the most gripping and satisfying read, My Other Husband takes you into the heart of domestic life and shatters it piece by piece.I wasn't expecting to get so emotionally involved with the characters, and i have to admit that the last chapter (before the epilogue) literally had me in tears.
