As Miranda is so suspicious of the place because of the history with her mother, it made the twist not very surprising and also made Emma’s character feel very flat as she just trusts these obviously shady strangers right from the off. Are the secrets and foundations Femlandia is built on safe for Miranda and Emma, or could they be more dangerous behind the walls than the horrors outside? Her writing offers a chilling glimpse into what are sometimes terrifying scenarios in the future and her mind is full of how humanity would change along with a mix of characters that are both intoxicating and frightening.
