I’m also betting that the sheer volume of what you have, mixed with a lack of functional systems, has created an environment that feels cluttered, overwhelming, and stressful. A lot of parents do not understand this and let their kids take over their entire house thinking that it is just a way of life that they have to live with instead of teaching their kids what the preschool / kindergarten class teaches them.

At first I just wanted to read the chapters that related to my “problem areas”, like the bathroom and linen closet, but then I broke down and just read the whole thing cover to cover… but I like that you could read it either way and get something out of it. The information is solid, and I found it still current, despite my dated references throughout this post suggesting otherwise. I read the book on my phone and I think some of the photos and layouts were lost in the digitization process, based on the pics of physical book I've seen online. This book has so much to offer in each chapter, including simple steps, some tough love, and humor to encourage you to finally part with some of the things you’ve been hanging onto. For this reason, my process (and this book) focuses on transforming one room at a time, one small section at a time.Nails covered with a top coat without a sticky layer do not have to be wiped with Shea Super Shine Effect Cleaner. I was determined to retain my sense of style and say “no” to all the latest gizmos and gadgets and baby gear despite the pressure to do otherwise. In fact, there are few things I enjoy more than teaching others how to create living spaces that help them improve their lives on every level. American - so lots of the suggested charities etc will mean nothing to most of us but the principles are the same. I became a bit of a transformation junkie, learning how to effect change in the most simple, efficient, and impactful way possible.
