Our table below shows how the most popular models differ in weight, dust capacity, cleaning range and price. The technical specifications are shown as stated by the manufacturer.

It excels at cleaning pet hair and deep, stubborn pet messes. Also, though, is an excellent filtration system that traps 99.99% of particles .3 microns or over. The HEPA filter does its job with the body specially sealed to make sure that no dust-filled air can evade the filter.

Unstoppable Cleaning, Built to Last

The Henry Hoover range is one of the most popular in the UK – and for good reason. Numatic vacuum cleaners are powerful, reliable and often sold for very reasonable prices. If you need a vacuum you can trust, almost any of the Henry range can do a great job (although the best option depends on your personal requirements). After taking it for a test vacuum at home, our reviewer Helen can only agree that Henry is a dependable workhorse, with a low-maintenance design. It doesn't have the sophisticated features that brand-new cordless vacuums do, but it also doesn't need to be charged or regularly emptied, with its six litre capacity.

Then the fact that this turns into a handheld with a flexible hose means that you can clean the stairs or your car. All the while enjoying clean, bacteria and particle-free air while you’re at it. The standard Henry and Hetty vacuums are great machines that will get almost any vacuum job done with little fuss, but there’s now lots of other options, some of which may be more appealing depending on what you need. Henry is known for his reliability and is ready for any cleaning task, from whole house cleans, to DIY and car vacuuming. This type of HEPA filter charges negative ions that attract particles with positive ions. They then bond together and are too heavy to pass through the mesh of the filter. There is an allergy seal around the tank that traps in 99.9% of dust and allergens, which combined with the serious suction leaves you with a ridiculously clean house. The body also lifts out so that you can vacuum any stairs or high corners with the hose for a full house clean.Out of those examples, then a HEPA filter will trap all of them including bacteria. That keeps your air very pure. Any particle smaller than .3 microns may pass through the filter, but in general, even those smaller ones are effectively trapped. The good news is that the lower suction is partly counteracted by the EcoBrush tool – at least for smaller cleaning jobs. This is a small tool with a brush for agitating hairs and dirt from carpets, which improves cleaning performance. It’s not suitable for cleaning large areas though. If you have a big home, messy occupants, or want to save time, this is the Henry model to go for in our opinion. Its design features will keep you cleaning without pause, and it’ll cope admirably with all the dust, debris, and fur you need to remove from your home or car. In our review Lindsey gave it top marks for cleaning power and versatility, but bear in mind that it's heavy to lug up the stairs. As a frame of reference, a spore is 3-40 microns. Bacteria is .3 to 60 microns, mould is 3-12 microns and a dust mite is 10 microns. I’ll be honest, if you’re worried about pet allergies and need a great vacuum, the Shark or the Dyson above will be a better choice. But if you don’t have the money for those that’s fine because this hoover is a great alternative that’s more budget-friendly.

For the average home, the HZ series isn’t required as the standard HepaFlo bags + TriTex filtration is adequate for household dust and allergens. The HZ series is only necessary for industrial uses. Which is the Best Henry Hoover? Love a Henry but want to go for one of the best cordless vacuums? The Henry HVB160 cordless vacuum cleaner is well worth a look. Our reviewer Sarah gave it 4.5 stars and thinks it's great for smaller homes as its battery life only lasts for 30 minutes. The HZ series is built for industries where dust could be hazardous to health. These models have a HEPA filter, additional pre-filter and use Hepaflo bags, allowing cleaners to vacuum and empty the machine safely. Emptying is a breeze because you just open the container from the bottom once it’s in the bin and all the dust falls out the bottom, and because all the fine dust is collected in the filter it doesn’t cause a big cloud when you empty it.It might seem more expensive than other canister vacuums but you can’t argue with 20-years worth of quality. The suction. Hands down. It lifted up the biggest, heaviest rug Jen has in her house. That means it can get deep into carpet pile, which is reassuring and satisfying at the same time. The filter is the best you can get, you can trust Dyson to provide you with the best there is. The only reason this isn’t my top choice is it’s more expensive, but I can assure you it’s my favourite vacuum cleaner and worth every penny. The EcoBrush came in handy during testing for giving upholstery and stairs a once over, according to our vacuum expert Jen. Another standout feature is the impressive suction that works well on carpet and hard floors, part in thanks to the universal floorhead.
