About this deal

The characters are dry. Warner is the only character I cared to read, but even then I don’t see how he’s being fawned over. He calls Juliette ‘love’ and has a good sense of fashion. That’s it. If I could sum up this entire review it would be that Mafi wrote these books solely for Warner. You can feel it in the writing. She tried to make the other characters interesting, but failed. But it’s okay because everyone who reads these books are only in it for Warner anyway.

Parto col parlarvi però, del primo volume, nel quale troviamo una Juliette: insicura, che non crede in se stessa, che non riconosce il suo potere né è disposta ad accettarlo, ormai demotivata.

Games

But the worst thing of all is the fact that abuse is lauded as romantic in these novels. Warner may hurt Juliette and be forgiven for it time and time again all because, beneath his terrible acts, his motives are supposedly based in the fact that he loves her. Nevermind that time and time again his love is portrayed as selfish and only insofar as she benefits him.

We are so thrilled to present to you… THE SHATTER ME DELUXE SET, brought to you in collaboration with @ tahereh and @ electricmonkeybooks!

Hobbies

The writing was creative and easy to get through. I find a lot of books nowadays are hard to digest, I trip over the jagged rises and falls of the sentences, but shatter me wasn’t like that one bit. It was creative without being over the top or superfluous. I also really enjoyed the POV. Basically it was really easy to get inside Juliette’s head and reside their, taking in what she took in how she perceived it. I knew something was wrong with that kid from the moment he was shoved into Juliette's prison and I don't mean the plot twist in the first book. By the way, Juliette's powers? Very, very cool. I'm not keen on touching people anyway but having superpowers? Hell yes! Warner. You know those jerks who are always smiling like they know something you don't? That's him, only ten times worse. Although he is protective of Juliette and would risk himself and give up his life for her, he knows she can take care of herself and respects how strong and powerful she is. He has full confidence in her and reminds her how capable she is all the time.

Soooooo I had only read about 10 chapters of the first book when I wrote that first part and since then I have read Unravel me and about eight chapters of Ignite Me. First, I want to say that I don’t judge you if you like these books. If you have read this series when you were younger and formed an attachment to them, I understand. We all have our vices. This review is for anyone who has not read them yet—anyone older than 18. Addictive, intense, and oozing with romance. I'm envious. I couldn't put it down." -- Lauren Kate, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Fallen series I libri che ho amato particolarmente di questa prima trilogia sono stati il primo e il terzo, assolutamente. Adam was Juliette's only companion in grade school before she was abruptly thrown in the asylum. After some time they're reunited under strained circumstances. He, an undercover agent for the Reestablishment, her, his assignment. She immediately recognizes him, and while he knows full well who she is and she makes him feel can't let her or his superiors know of these feelings. After some time they escape and learn more about each other and themselves than they were prepared for. Causing a strain on their relationship that took them by surprise.I still think the writing at the beginning of the book was intriguing and clever, the issue is Mafi dropped the charade too easily. Juliette, in all rights, should be insane, or at the very least, she should have severe PTSD and attachment issues. She had zero healthy relationships as a kid, she didn't get the motherly nurturing and physical affection children need, she didn't have friends to develop social skills, she was in solitary confinement without seeing another human for almost an entire year—as a TEENAGER. She had to shower in the dark and eat gross food. I assumed, since it was so played up at the beginning of the first book, that she was going to have mental health struggles. Like her sanity would genuinely come into question. I thought that was going to be one of her obstacles. It really wasn’t. And maybe Mafi planned on fleshing out her mental problems in the later books. Perhaps her fleeing with Adam completely unprecedented was a form of attachment issues (even though she hardly remembered the guy and they never even talked, but yeah sure, they’re in love). If she had stayed true to her original writing I would have liked the books better, but she dropped the originality for something generic. It became superfluous and distracting.
