Description

When the air heats up, the Sterling engine expands, thrusting a piston upward; when the air drops in temperature, the engine contracts, drawing the same piston downward. This rapid succession provides power that transforms the heat energy to mechanical energy used to turn the fan blade. If you are still unsure about the effectiveness of stove fans and thinking the price of them can be quite an investment, we are very pleased to introduce a great little starter fan. It has a retro design reminiscent of the first fans to market from the big brands such as Caframo or Valiant nearly a decade ago. Despite their revisions over the years the retro design of My Stove Fan will in no way affect the efficacy of its main purpose, which is to circulate the hot air around your room.

As IQ Design’s goal was to provide a range of stove fan models to fit nearly every heating stove and their settings, they offer a smaller version of the SmartFan Original, which is the Smartfan Mini and is only 180mm high. We’ve been asked this question thousands of times through our online chat box or over the phone and, as there are very different settings of heating stoves, the answer isn’t simple. How big is your room? Is it an open plan room that you’d like to warm evenly? As for the maker, Hansa has always been an advocate for the environment, and this is mirrored in all the products that they have. They make every single product based on rigorous research, and they have the mission of producing innovative, modern, and high quality product. They also make sure they adhere not just to the expectations of customers but also to safety requirements and environmental protection standards.

It turned out to be very challenging for stove fan manufacturers to come up with a solution to mount the fan to the stove door. It might not seem that complicated at first glance, but the fan needs to be sleek, easy to assemble, sturdy and fit onto the majority of stoves. The most powerful stove fans are those powered by a Stirling engine, like Vulcan or Warpfive – both of which are handmade and British. The Sirocco has some pretty great features, but that’s not all it has going for it. You also get a 24-month warranty so you really know that they know what they’re doing. This product is also made in the EU, with only the best quality materials.

Secure the vertical mounting kit using the two screws provided. Don’t forget to remove the countersank screws from the base before mounting the VMT!Bigger rooms require stove fans with greater air-moving capacities — something measured in cubic feet per minute (CFM). Therefore, stove fans with a higher CFM will mean you will use less fuel for burning in your stove. It follows then, that someone would create a solution to change the way the air circulates, so that the hot air gets more evenly spread through the room, which leads to a much more comfortable environment.

Operation is praised for being quiet, while the design is subtle and easily blends in with the majority of stove styles, both contemporary and classic. For a very long time the owners of any kind of built-in stove had been ruled out from being able to have a stove fan and the advantages they bring, as the fans were designed to be placed on a big, flat stove top, which obviously precludes the inset and insert stoves. This marginalised a huge chunk of the market, and a solution had to be found sooner rather than later. There are many stoves that whose top rarely get hotter than 250 centigrade, such as the soapstone stove or gas powered stove.Aside from what you save by not using up too much fuel, the Sirocco also costs nothing to operate. All you have to do, literally, is put the fan on top of the stove, and then wait for the surface to be heated up. The Sirocco is capable of generating its own electricity, so you don’t even have to deal with all the hassle of batteries and power cords. This is because the heated surface of the Sirocco is large, and just by heating up this surface (by putting it on top of the stove), it can already generate a really large amount of power. What this means is that even if the heating process is over and done with, it can still operate for a longer period of time and continue to bring warmth to the room. The heat is maximized to its full efficiency, so you don’t have to keep worrying about added costs. As of today – November 2017 – the Sirocco Plus is the only stove fan that can be adapted to work on the built in stove. These stoves need dedicated stove fans that have their best operating temperature range shifted towards around 150 centigrade. You might be surprised but there are quite a few Peltier fans designed to work on a low temperature stove top, and even one Stirling engine fan. Both systems involve low-torque motors, which accounts for easy blade control. This means the said blades stop and start according to some pre-designed specification. Most stove fans start when the stove is at a temperature of 65 degrees C. or 150 degrees F.

Stove fan equipped with such sophisticated devices could operate using nothing but the heat from the stove, which is great because that means no added fuel costs. Also, these devices don't need to be charged or recharged. They don't produce any pollution. They work silently, and pose no health or environmental hazards. Some manufacturers even claim that their products reduce the total cost to operate the stoves, and reduce emissions by burning up to 14% less fuel. That's the kind of performance that speaks for itself. If you want to warm up a standard room with a stove that won’t reach temperatures above 350°c, then you need to consider stove fans like Valiant Premium, Ventum 3 or Phoenix. If you’re not sure what maximum temperatures your stove can reach, then you are better off buying a stove thermometer. It is an inexpensive device that not only helps to protect your fan, but also gives you a better understanding of the best operating temperatures of your stove. The Valiant stove fans are powerful, yet silent, reliable and covered by a 2 year warranty. The Ventum 3 is an evolution of the Premium. It starts at a lower temperature and spins faster thanks to the lighter blades.A variety of solutions have been put forth, but in most cases, the power supply became the hindrance. Although the small electric motor used in a log burner fan only require a small amount of energy to operate, standard batteries couldn't be used because they would be exposed to dangerous levels of heat, in some cases in excess of 300C/570F! That's definitely well beyond tolerance for most batteries. The Sirocco eco stove fan is a heat-powered, wood burning fan with a unique triple blade design. Made by Hansa, the Sirocco holds the prestige of being the grandest thermoelectric stove fan in terms of size. Its airflow of 350 m³/h is exceptional, and definitely makes it stand out. A temperature gauge is an energy-efficient features which lets you monitor the heat and performance of your stove fan. You can use it to optimise its efficiency which will prevent against damage from overheating. There is practically no installation required, so you don’t have to mull over confusing instructions and deal with putting small pieces together. Because it’s so easy to operate and it can fast become a normal part of your household, you’ll soon forget that you have this new stove fan in the first place. More importantly, the Sirocco was designed for silent operation. You don’t have to deal with the noise that you get from a lot of other fans. The fan’s performance can be affected by a few other factors specific to the individual heating appliance surroundings, like the depth and shape of the recess, the height of an aperture etc. So, use your fan’s top handle to move it around the top plate of your stove to determine the right position for the best performance – just make sure you keep the fan away from the flue and never in front of it. If you decide to go for any of the SmartFans make sure you get yourself familiar with the illustration below as their positioning rules are slightly different.
