About this deal

I love making shirts with sublimation. Sublimation on a polyester shirt is the most permanent bond you can get. A 100% polyester shirt with sublimation on it will last the longest of any method you may try for making custom shirts. When the time is up, lift the EasyPress straight upward. Remove the butcher paper but wait until the clear HTV has completely cooled before removing the film, about 5-10 minutes - this is a COLD peel. TIP: Since we’re using the Print Then Cut feature on our Cricut, I highly recommend you calibrate your Cricut before beginning this project. See my Print Then Cut Calibration video to learn how.

The next step in preparing the white HTV for sublimation is to trim and weed the design. This involves cutting away any excess material around the edges of the design, as well as removing any unwanted parts of the design itself. Yes, you can definitely layer HTV designs. There are a few things to be aware of that we’ve listed below, but if you want more information on layering please see our layering htv guide. NOTE: Your printer’s controls will appear but might be hidden behind Cricut Design Space. Minimize your Cricut window to find it. It may look different depending on your printer, computer, and software. Use my settings as a guideline, but adjust as needed to fit your tools. Over the 15+ years that we’ve supplied Heat Transfer Vinyls, we regularly meet customers that think that 10 to 20 washes would be the limit of HTVs when they’re applied to garments. However, we’re happy to confirm that many of the Stahls Heat Transfer Vinyls that we supply will outlast the garment, and have been tested to show that they’ll last for a minimum of 50 washes. This means that the garment should be ready for the bin before the design starts to degrade. If you use a lot of heat transfer vinyl, then you may want to get a heat press or Cricut Easy Press down the road, but for today we will just focus on using an iron. If possible, one that doesn’t have a bunch of big steam holes on the bottom will work best, but you can work with whatever you have at home. Where to Iron If you need a more stretchy HTV then Premium Plus Stretchable HTV Vinyl is a thin and durable, matt vinyl/flex which is perfect for sportswear, promotional wear and workwear alike. It’s also PVC and Phthalate-free which makes it more environmentally-friendly and more suitable for application onto kidswear. When compared to traditional screen printing or heat transfer vinyl (HTV), sublimation on white HTV offers several advantages. Screen printing involves creating a separate screen for each color in the design, which can be time-consuming and expensive. HTV, on the other hand, can be limited in terms of the colors and designs that can be achieved. Sublimation on white HTV, however, offers unlimited color options and the ability to print intricate designs with ease. A: When using an EasyPress, you’ll want to press your clear HTV at 385° F (196° C) for 30 seconds to apply it to your shirt, and then sublimate at the same temperature for 55 seconds. The final step in preparing the white HTV for sublimation is to apply heat-resistant tape where necessary. This helps to hold the HTV in place during the transfer process and prevent it from shifting or moving around.

A few big things to be aware of are compatible materials, considerations for Inlay vs layering, and application. No, you don’t. As I was making these shirts I was thinking how fun it would be to create a Halloween design and then instead of using a white HTV for the eyes use a glow-in-the-dark HTV. I would love to see kids’ reactions to a shirt like that. We offer our HTV at competitive prices, so you can enjoy creating custom designs without breaking the bank.

Printing and Sublimating on White HTV

Not all of my attempts at sublimating dark fabrics or cotton have been difficult or disappointing, though. While some of these tests have been a flop, others have actually yielded some really nice solutions to the problem. I’ve had lots of success sublimating glitter, holographic, and glow-in-the-dark vinyl. These gave great results — IF you want your image to be sparkly, holographic, or glow green when the lights go down. The first step in the printing and sublimating process is to print the design onto . This requires a sublimation printer and sublimation ink. It is important to use high-quality sublimation ink and paper to ensure that the design is clear and vibrant. To walk you through the processing of making your own iron on vinyl projects, I am going to make myself a new t-shirt (yay!). using my Craft Queen design. 1. Prepare Cut File Heat Transfer Vinyl, also often referred to as HTV or Iron on Vinyl, is a simple, easy to use, durable and cost-effective way to get started creating professional designs, shirts and garments with less overhead than other design methods. Next, trim away the excess clear HTV and the excess white iron-on and "weed" the designs by removing the excess vinyl around the outside edges of the solid design shapes.

Because the heat transfer vinyl’s adhesive requires some pressure to activate, I recommend that you do not use a folding ironing board to apply your HTV designs. You don’t want to be pushing down on your ironing board and have it collapse beneath your pressure! First, you should make sure the HTV you are using are compatible with each other and can be layered. Some materials like glitter can’t be layered on top of, but can be the final, top layer on other materials. As a rule of thumb, we don’t recommend layering HTV with textured vinyl. If a vinyl is not layerable, you can try an inlay method instead, laying vinyl next to each other rather than on top.

Metallics / Sparkles

Hot application is a 3-5 second press to the garment at 160°C and cool peel. No garment pre-press is required. Furthermore if you have easily marked or sensitive fabrics you can apply 123 Premium at 120°C for 20 seconds with a cold peel.
