Setting up the Yard Force EasyMow 260B follows a relatively standard robot lawnmower pattern. It’s quite an involved process, so be prepared to spend a couple of hours crawling around your garden on your knees. A rear roller is used on a regular lawn mower to weigh down on the grass which in turn creates stripes. However, this is not a feature you see on a robot mower as there simply isn’t enough weight to make stripes. However, the EasyMove 260B carves a niche for itself with the CloudHawk app. This doesn’t have as many features as the apps on some of the more expensive robot lawn mowers but it expands the abilities of the unit significantly. Crucially, you can take total control of when the robot pops out and does its mowing, either by controlling it manually from your device, or by setting up a schedule. A robotic lawn mower is a device that is designed to cut your lawn without you having to walk around the garden and do the work yourself. They are programmed using keypads, apps and boundary wires and you can then leave them to get on with mowing. You will likely have a range of objects, people and pets on your lawn at any one time and it’s incredibly important for the safe operation of the mower, so you will be pleased to know that at a minimum all robotic mowers will have bump sensors fitted. Higher end robot mowers will also feature object avoidance which will prevent them from bumping / colliding with anything left on the lawn. Cutting Height

Anyone who doesn’t fancy the requirement to lay wire or doesn’t have a straightforward place to plug in a charging station should look to the LawnMaster VBRM16. This robot mower scans the grass ahead of itself to avoid driving off your lawn. The downside is that, without a charging station the LawnMaster VBRM16 can’t find its way home. It’s also priced at the affordable end of the scale, but can only mow lawns up to 100m² in size.

As you will see in my YouTube video, I tested the LawnMaster VBRM16 on my front lawn which is around 100 square metres; the perfect size for this mower.There’s a button on the control panel which you can press after popping the mower down in whichever area needs touching up. It’ll then use a spiral pattern to trim any longer bits of grass and ensure a uniform finish over the whole lawn. Cutting Pattern With the LawnMaster VBRM16, you don’t need to blow your life savings to get a robot mower with a fantastic range of features and that does an excellent job of cutting. It’s designed to cut up to 100m² and has a 16cm cutting width. Combine this with the four hour run time, which I’ll talk more about shortly, and you’ve got something that’s going to deliver an even cut without running out of power. One last thing that’s worth noting is that the battery is sealed into the device, with no obvious way of getting in to remove or replace it. Insert the safety key and long press the START/ON button for 3 seconds. Wait for the green lights to stop flashing and the mower to beep.
