This book took office "romance" to the extreme and it was about as exciting as you can imagine it to be.Since that didn't happen, I had high hopes for the final chapter, hoping we'd get a glimpse of them as parents to Joel and maybe even their mini-me's, experience Ris as a jet-setting suburban mom whose schedule is comprised of banging her husband in the backyard of their private island, as well as her notable charitable endeavours. Someone might tire of the story of the low self-esteemed black girl who is on a scholarship, lives in a shelter, and meets and falls for a hotshot who eventually becomes dirt rich while she barely advances in class. I mean, Kenya stopped living her life, dropped out of college just to be there to take care of Sasha when she was going through cancer. I mean Clarissa was so much this “ima poor so boo hoo 😭 and I want to be sorry for myself but will not make no effort to change or move”. The idea of a millionnaire boss as a love interest might sound appealing for some, and I guess the hot single dad trope does it for others, but that wasn’t the case for me.
